Dog Days of Summer - Pupsicle Recipe

Hi- I'm Marshmallow, Mal for short, and I live at the Historic McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop on Mackinac Island, Michigan. I am a Bichon Frise and Poodle mix and I'm still an energetic pup who loves to get into all kinds of things. Allie, my human, would say I like to get into mischief. I just get so excited by all the sounds and smells and great things on the island.

Then there's Mella. She's a cat who is much older than me, but new to our family. She loves me, of course, but likes to grump about and say I'm always bothering her.

Together we help Allie meet the guests, and fight crime. Yes, that's right, we are crime fighting pets because we sniff out the bad guys and help Allie figure out who they are. Mella says she does all the work and I'm just a bother, but I help solve all the problems up until our next book.

In Fudge Bites, Mella is the one who gets into more trouble. I guess I do need to share the spotlight every once in a while to keep myself in her good graces. Anyway, I'm not a big fan of Halloween. Everyone smells the same and sounds the same, but looks so different. Mella says everyone looks strange because they don't have fur like we do and have to make up for it by putting on clothes. But I still haven't figured out why the zombie makeup.

Of course that's October and right now it's August and the dog days of summer are here and I thought we'd celebrate with a pupsicle recipe.  Here's a simple peanut-butter ice treat for when the days get too warm:

1 cup natural peanut butter- be careful that it's 100% peanuts.
1 ripe banana

Blend peanut butter, banana and enough water to liquefy it in a blender. Pour into silicon ice cube trays and freeze. Pups will go nuts for these yummy treats.

Do you have fur babies? What do you give them for hot summer treats?

  1. Ginger gets ice cubes in her water dish. I'm going to make this! Her two favorite foods, peanut butter and banana!
