Sunday is Fun Day!

by Mel Langston, from Sparkle Abbey's Pampered Pets Mystery series

Happy Sunday everyone! What a crazy couple of months. It’s the peak of tourist season in our seaside town, which means summer is almost over. Betty had just remarked (aka Betty complained) that Bow Wow Boutique had been so busy neither of us has had a minute to take advantage of the extra daylight and amazing weather. But I did it! This afternoon I managed to sneak away from the shop for a couple of hours for a little “me time.” With Betty’s blessing, of course.

One of my favorite things about living in Laguna is that I get take my latest “beach read” to the beach. It’s such a treat to grab the latest psychological suspense, tuck it into my tote, and make my way to a local favorite, Pearl Street Beach, to read for a couple of hours.

Besides a spin tingling suspense, I also enjoy a good legal thriller. But my favorite beach read is a mystery novel. Amateur sleuth, cozy, traditional, procedural—you name it, I love a good mystery. Maybe I’m partial to the genre because I have found myself caught in the middle of a few real-life mysteries. I do try to keep out of the police investigation, but it never fails, something always pulls me into the middle. Luckily, just like in the books, the real-life bad guys have been caught.

What about you? What’s your favorite beach read?

The latest books in the Pampered Pets series are Barking with the Stars and The DogfatherSparkle Abbey is actually two people, Mary Lee Ashford and Anita Carter, who write the national best-selling Pampered Pets cozy mystery series.

They are friends as well as neighbors so they often get together and plot ways to commit murder. (But don't tell the other neighbors.)

They love to hear from readers and can be found on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest, their favorite social media sites.
