What I didn't do on my summer vacation!

Did I blink? What happened to summer? School’s back in, the white shoes and gloves are stowed away (not that I had any), and some leaves are starting to turn. Already. I do love autumn but that’s still a couple of weeks off and the tourist season in the Thousand Islands region is still going full swing for another six weeks. But we all know what will happen, don’t we? Don’t blink!

So, I was thinking the other day, if I were going back to school and had to write an essay on What I Did on My Summer Holidays, I couldn’t do it. I didn’t take any. I worked straight through those months. That’s what happens when you’re the co-owner-manager of a seasonal bookstore. Bayside Books is located in Blye Castle on Blye Island so while others vacation, I staycation. But I did try to find out all I could about my beautiful new home town of Alexandria Bay, NY. And, I also worked on solving a murder. Now, who else could write about that?

Will I go someplace over the winter months? I don’t know. I haven’t really thought to make any holiday plans because there’s still a whole lot of handselling of books to be done.

What about you? What would the title of your summer holiday essay be?
