By Shelby Cox from the Castle Bookshop Mysteries by Essie Lang

Veterans Day, Armistice Day, Remembrance Day…whatever it’s designated in your country, it’s a day we all share with gratitude and respect. I find as I get older, the sacrifice of the many who served becomes more meaningful and poignant. I try to place myself in the role of a young woman in her late twenties whose boyfriend, brother, uncle, cousin, even father went off to war. I cannot truly imagine the depth of the fear she had to live with every day. And to have lost someone is an unbearable thought.

So on Monday, along with a nation, I will give thanks to and for the many veterans and those who continue to serve. I cannot imagine what our world would be like today, if not for their sacrifices. I will be joining so many others in my small town that has a big heart to show this support.

Does your town hold a special ceremony or ceremonies on this day?
