Informed Delivery is the DEVIL for mail carriers...AND PRINT BOOK GIVEAWAY is GOOD for readers!

Characters: Bernadette Bulter
Title: STAMPED OUT (Book #1)
Title: ADDRESS FOR MURDER (Book #2, releasing this month)
Series: A Mail Carrier Cozy Mystery
Author: Tonya Kappes
Website: Tonyakappes.com

Oh my stars! Do y'all get those post office updates to what is coming to your mailbox? They are called USPS daily informed delivery? Well...if you're not familiar, let me take a second of your time and tell you what the USPS has done to make my job a lot harder.
I'm not complaining! I love being a mail carrier. I love walking my three loops of delivering the mail to the citizens of Sugar Creek Gap and the sweet fur babies there too, but this whole informed delivery has about taken me under!

Informed delivery is something you can sign up for on the USPS website. Every single piece of mail goes through a scanner and gets a picture taken of it. Through the magic of the internet and email, and I'm sure a whole lot of money...and if you're signed up, you'll get a daily email with photos of all of the mail coming to your mailbox. The key word is coming...

Of course most of my customers on my route has signed up and you won't believe what a tizzy it's spun around Sugar Creek Gap! Mainly most of them anticipating a big invitation to a bridal shower. The Front Porch Ladies, as I like to call the four little widowed women who live next to each other over on Little Creek Road, have been driving me crazy. They've been informed they are getting it but when it will arrive is a whole 'nuther story.

And it doesn't stop there. I have some residents waiting next to the door for me to get their mail, but I'm most excited to see Lee Macum. He's retired from the local garbage company and even though he does have a lot of junk around his house, he loves stamps. He's been waiting on a very important letter from a philatelist, a stamp collector, about a very rare stamp. Obviously I'm a nerd when it comes to stamps...job hazard. But from what Lee tells me, the stamp is worth a lot of money.

But I guess he's going to have to wait another day because the certified letter isn't in his stack of mail today.

  4. I do have informed delivery. We were told you have to have it in order to have a hold put on your mail for when we take vacations. Since it's started I love knowing whether to make the trip down to the mailbox with excitement or just ok I'll get it later. :)

Can't wait for the opportunity to read STAMPED OUT! Sounds like a fabulous book and definitely on my TBR list.

Rowena is adorable and should be employee of the year - every year. <3

  5. I don't know if we get informed delivery but it's San Antonio so it's probably offered. I kind of like the surprise of mail delivery though unless I'm expecting something. I am going to have to read this series.

  14. I've never heard of informed delivery. I live in a really small town so i don't even know if they'd do it. Probably just as well because our mailman is not the most reliable and I'd just end up not getting something that's pictured or getting a picture of the neighbor's mail instead.

  16. I've already joined you everywhere! However, I don't get Informed Delivery and must check into it, as I've had packages fail to arrive; and, I know they were shipped. Accountability is important; but, the cost still may not stop the disappearances. I'll call after typing this. Thanks for the heads up. Rowena is totally charming and I love seeing her on the cover of this book. She reminds me of my Matilda from my childhood. When other girls played with their dolls, I dressed Matilda in doll clothes and bonnets then pushed her up and down sidewalks & in our homme in an antique baby buggy. She'd lay on her back and look so adorable. And, she'd let me place a baby blanket over her. I was about 4 to 7 years old when I did this & she was quite the enabler! She was my grandmother's cat & elderly; but, she loved the attention. Thanks for having a giveaway for a signed copy. And, congratulations on your new book! betsypz(at)yahoo(dot)com

  17. My hubby has signed up for the Informed Delivery. Mostly we get junk mail, but every now and then, there will be something more important. And, yes, there has been a delay in actually receiving a particular envelope.

I don't do twitter, or instagram, but think I stalk you everywhere else. :)

I'm kind of a mail junkie too.Have been since before I was old enough for school.I would wait at the bottom of the hill where the big mailbox was & then walk the mailman around the neighborhood. Every. Day. Chattering to him the whole time! Poor man was a saint!. As a pre-teen/teen I had over 21 pen pals around the world, which got me into stamp collecting. Had to write to my pen pals on special air mail paper back then. And hubby learned decades ago that nobody gets the mail except me! Like Christmas every day.
Thanks for the chance to win & Merry Christmas to All! Hope Rowena gets a stocking full of nip.

I do informed delivery. My daughter told me about the service a year or so ago.
I suggest everyone do it because I read scammers can register your name and address to themselves and see what is coming to your mailbox. I don't know if it's true but I do like getting advance notices of what is on the way in the next few days.

  137. Not only do I not get it I have never heard of it. Our Carrier must be hiding it because of all the extra work...
Thank you for the chance you are a new Author to me.

  138. I can't wait to read this! I love informed delivery - I got a package back that was delivered to the wrong address - I saw a picture of it and it didn't show up... called the Post Office and the main carrier realized he had delivered it to the correct house number on the wrong street!

  141. I do have informed delivery through USPS and I love it. I also like that it tells me I have packages coming before they reach my post office. I love your books and Stamped Out was so good that I can't wait to see what happens next with Bernadette and Rowena.

  143. The first thing that I do every morning when I log onto the computer is go to my informed delivery to see what is arriving that day. It is a wonderful tool. I follow you on all of your formats and I would LOVE to win this book. Thank you so much for everything that you do for your readers.

  149. Oh yes! Informed Delivery can be helpful, but it's a real pain in the behind when they text you at 3 a.m. to let you know they will be there sometime that day!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I can never go back to sleep after that. But I know something is coming!! Lol
