One Last Visit

by Chase Oliver, owner of Bar None dessert bar shop in Dinkytown
from the cancelled Fat Cat series by Janet Cantrell, who usually writes as Kaye George

GIVEAWAY BELOW

I’m a lucky woman, I know. I have my own shop in a great neighborhood, loyal friends, good co-workers, my family, and Quincy—the most wonderful cat in the world. Still, I’m sometimes blue because I don’t get to continue my adventures in more Fat Cat books.

But I’m grateful for the times I’ve had and the many, many loyal fans that helped make this series a bestseller. ‘Tis the season for giving, so I’d like to treat someone to my stories. If you’ve never read a Fat Cat book, I’ll let you know that there were three before the publisher cancelled the series, due to a corporate decision to cut back on cozies there. Until then, Berkley Prime Crime (which no longer exists) was the ruler in the cozy publishing world. I’m proud that my adventures contributed to this.

Don’t feel sorry for me. I’m still in the pages of the three books: FAT CAT AT LARGE, FAT CAT SPREADS OUT, and FAT CAT TAKES THE CAKE. Every time someone reads a Fat Cat book, I come alive again! This week I’d like to introduce some lucky reader to my world. My writer is giving away the whole series to a lucky winner!

Honestly, if you’ve already read the series, you could win the books, too, and give them to someone who hasn’t read them. Read on!

My author, Janet Cantrell, who is also Kaye George, invites you to leave a comment below—with your email address so she can contact you. This giveaway will end Friday night, 12/6, at midnight EST.

So sad that they want to decrease the cozy market. :( Thank you for the fabulous chance to win the whole series! <3

  18. Gah! Publishers can be SO short-sighted.
Books are selling well? Well, too bad. We're cancelling them.

  19. I remember that time when all the publishers cancelled so many great series. I understand bottom line is important but still . . . . Makes what is already hard for authors that aren't Stephen King even harder. Thanks so much for this giveaway.

  26. I've read the series, and own one, so I'm not posting in hopes of winning. I just wanted to say that this is a great series, and I was sorry that they ended it. I keep hoping maybe (if you want) someday another publisher will pick it up.

  31. I'm not commenting for the chance to win because I am the lucky winner of Christmas Cocoa Murder from Edith Maxwell/Maddie Day yesterday. I am sorry the series was dropped because the covers are adorable and make me want to read them. I will have to check out the library in hopes that they have the series.

  36. Squeal! I didn't realize you wrote these books and I have an unhealthy (for other people, not for me you understand) obsession with cats and mysteries so combining the two is a dream made in Heaven. Also, it could potentially save a marriage because I could read whenever I get annoyed, so the prize would also make my husband a winner. It's easier to ignore the fact that he misses the laundry bin (on accident I'm sure) by six inches every single time if my face is shoved in a delightful cat mystery book. Every. Single. Time. mrsalaska (at) gmail (dot) com
