Big News...But Don't Tell Anyone!

By Avery Morgan from Lucy Ness’s soon-to-be-published “Haunted Homicide”

Shhhh!  Don’t tell anyone.  It’s a new month, a new year, a new decade, and I’ve just made a big decision.  I’ve decided to leave upstate New York for a job in Portage Path, Ohio.
Yeah, I know, I should be shouting the news from the rooftops, but not quite yet, OK?  There are a couple people around here who won’t exactly be thrilled.  One of them is my current employer at the small hotel center where I work.  They love me and praise my work and really, I like it there.  But let’s face it, after a couple years, the challenge is gone and I’m getting antsy,
And then there’s my Aunt Rosemary, of course.  Rosemary and her friends have their own plans for me.  They’re mediums, see.  Yes, they talk to the dead.  They’re planning on opening their own conference center and education facility here in Lily Dale (the largest Spiritualist community in the country) and they want me to run it for them.
It’s not like I don’t love my Aunt Rosemary to pieces.  It’s not that I don’t enjoy spending time with her friends, but honestly, though I’ve lived in Lily Dale, New York with Rosemary all my life, I’m just not buying into this woo-woo stuff.
I need fresh ideas.  A fresh start.
And I’m going to get it in Portage Path.  There, I’ll be taking over the management of the Portage Path Women’s Club, a prestigious organization that’s been around since like forever and is dedicated to improving the lives of its members and of the community around them.
At PPWC, I’ll be arranging meetings and conferences.  I’ll be handling day-to-day business at the club.  And while I’m at it, I’ll try to book the fabulous mansion that the club calls home for things like weddings and parties and business meetings.
Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?
And all of it, far away from the slightly off-kilter world of seances, mediums, and communicating with the dead.
I mean, that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
Yes, a fresh start.
What could possibly go wrong?

Check in with Avery in the coming months to get a first look at the cover of “Haunted Homicide,” book #1 in the Haunted Mansion Mystery Series.
