Is it safe to come out from under the covers yet?  Fireworks are not one of my favorite things, and there sure have been a lot of booming explosions around here for the past couple of weeks. People are making a big deal about this new year – more than usual, since it’s 2020.

I hear a lot of talk about making resolutions for the new year, too. My friend Sabrina made a resolution to spend more time writing. Her Aunt Rowe resolved to cut down on eating sweets. Thomas, Aunt Rowe’s handyman, plans to start running.

And doesn't everyone plan (even if it's only in the very back of their mind) to exercise more?

Do cats need to make new year’s resolutions, too? What would they be?

Sleep more? Stretch more? Practice jumping? Catch more mice? Challenge the dog? Watch more birds?

My list might be different from other cats - after all, I sure would love it if they'd quit calling me the Bad Luck Cat.

            Stay inside.
            Mind my own business.
            Reign in my curiosity.

What fun is that?  More to the point, who’s going to solve the mysteries around here, if I do those things?

My resolution is to sniff out more clues to solve more mysteries, and I’ll keep doing that until people start calling me the Good Luck Cat.

How many of you would like to make a resolution for your pet - if it were possible to convince your pet to keep a resolution - and what would that resolution be?
