Buon giorno, tutti! For those of you who don't speak Italian, that's hello, everyone. I'm Ravello Carina. To the world, I'm a "businessman." But I'll tell you the truth. I'm a lieutenant for the Boldano crime family. Up until not too long ago, I ran their gambling operations. A guy showed up at one of clandestine - that's a nice way of saying "illegal" - poker games, bet the ranch - the ranch being a rundown catering hall in NYC borough of Queens - and lost. So my boss, Donny Boldano, tasked me with fixing up and running the place. While I don't wish my daughter Mia loser of a missing husband on anyone - especially my gorgeous, precious bambina - I'm glad that adulterous idiot going missing motivated Mia to move back to Astoria and help me run Belle View.

I hear CEOs of all those big companies set these things called long-term goals. I'm gonna make one for myself: turn Belle View Banquet Manor into the best party place in all of New York City. I'm also gonna set myself a short-term goal... stai fuori dai guai.
That means stay out of trouble.
Readers, comment below on some challenges Ravello might face to be entered in a contest to win this fantastic flash drive from USB Memory Direct! The winner will be announced in this column within 24-48 hours. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS with an (at) com extension for protection.

HERE COMES THE BODY debuts February 25, but pre-order now through the links on this page!

  2. I agree with Ravello that he should keep his long-term goal of staying out of trouble, and he should also listen to Mia. bobandcelia@sbcglobal.net

  3. Knowing the author, and having had my youngest daughter's wedding at the Mafia Central Hall which funny enough is also in Astoria, Queens I'd love to see Ravello stay on the straight and narrow.. I'd also love to be the happy winner of a new flash drive.

    1. Thanks so much, Grandma Cootie! And yes, those would indeed be problems.

  6. A great party place sounds fun, but watch out. You never know when you'll get some crazy, out-of-control parties. Take it in stride and keep your head down.

  7. I bet trouble just finds Ravello, he doesn't have to go looking for it. Looking forward to reading the new series.

  8. I'm guessing he might run into some illegal activity going on during the renovations. ALso, some of those parties might bring in the law. Looking forward to reading this new series. Thanks for the chance.

  10. The biggest problem is airport noise and the outdated decor. Also, bridezillas will be a problem, but he has Mia to handle them. Sounds like a delightful book. Doodlesink@hotmail.com

  11. Staying out of trouble will be difficult. Renovating an old building, a person can run into a plethora of structural issues that must be dealt with before you can start the renovation. dbahn(at)iw(dot)net
