MEET AGGIE - DOG CLUB MYSTERY SERIES

Last month author V. M. Burns introduced you to her two poodles, Coco and Cash, the inspiration for Snickers and Oreo in her Mystery Bookshop Series. This month, she's introducing you to another member of her pack, Agatha aka "Aggie" who is featured in the Dog Club Mystery Series.

It doesn't take a genius detective like Sherlock Holmes to figure out that author, V. M. Burns, loves dogs. She especially loves poodles, and what's not to love. Poodles are intelligent, easy to train and have a hyper-allergenic coat (which means they don't shed). When she was asked to come up with an idea for a new cozy mystery, she didn't have to look far for inspiration. In fact, she just looked at the latest addition to her family, a six-pound black toy poodle, named Kensington (yes, she named her after her publisher). Kensington aka "Kenzie" is the muse for Aggie in the Dog Club Mystery Series, although the author exercises creative license and makes a few literary modifications.

Both Kenzie and Aggie are black toy poodles who love to cuddle. Like Kenzie, Aggie loves to climb on your shoulder and is perfectly content to sit there wagging her tail 90 miles per hour all day. However, Aggie isn't exactly like Kenzie. In fact, in some respects, Aggie is the complete opposite of Kenzie. In the Dog Club Mysteries, Aggie is brave and fearless. In real life, Kenzie is afraid of practically everything including loud noises, doors, quick movements, and well, you get the picture. Although, Kenzie has made great strides and is no longer afraid of carpeting and stuffed animals (mostly).

The Dog Club Mystery Series features a different breed of dog in each book. The first book, IN THE DOG HOUSE, features poodles and introduces Aggie. The dog on the cover isn't Kenzie, but it looks a lot like her.

  1. This is such a good series. Aggie reminds me of a little poodle I used to puppysit named Abby. I loved her so much! Small as a kitten when she wanted to sit on your lap but big as a wolf when she went in the back yard to protect her property.

  2. That is so awesome. I'm amazed at how a little poodle can think they are as big as a pit bull.

  3. I always love stories about your babies. Although Ginger is a Goldendoodle, she is more golden than poodle in looks and shedding. She is very smart, too much for her own good. She's a big girl that loves everyone, and other pets. I think she would scare your sweet girl though. 😥

  4. I love the Dog Club series...it’s one of my favorites! I have a black lab named Bandit. He’s 8, and we rescued him 3 years ago. He’s a sweetheart.
