Yes, c’est moi, Zora

From the Zodiac Mysteries by Connie di Marco

Normally, I don’t focus on my problems.  After all, I am the most renowned psychic at The Mystic Eye in San Francisco and people come to me for answers to their own problems.  But this time it’s different and really, there’s no one I can talk to about this.

You see, Gale, the owner of the Mystic Eye occult bookshop needed some extra help and she hired a friend of one of our regulars – a man named Rupert.  Well, that’s all well and good, he’s a big strong guy, with a pug ugly face but he seems good hearted and helps the ladies at the Eye a lot.  He unpacks books and supplies, moves bookcases and tables as needed and he’s occasionally provided security for the Eye when someone has been threatened.

But here’s the thing – I think Rupert is smitten with me!  Me!  Zora!  An untouchable goddess!  What am I going to do?  It's embarrassing!  Not that I have a problem with the adoration, but he follows me around like a puppy dog, offers to drive me everywhere I need to go – well that is helpful – he’s never asked me for a free reading, which lots of people try to do.  So, you’re probably thinking, what’s the problem Zora?  What’s the big deal?  Maybe he’s not the most handsome creature on the planet, but he has a great big crush on you.  What are you complaining about?

Sigh . . . first of all, I am a law unto myself.  I don’t have time or room in my life for a man.  What would I do with one??? Half of my clients come to me with ‘man problems’ anyway.  I can’t be bothered, if you want to know the truth.  But, here’s the other thing.  I can’t really get a read on Rupert.  I know nothing about his background, but I have the feeling that if I asked, he could easily lie to me.  Now, as a psychic, that’s no good.  Why can’t I penetrate his thoughts?  That’s very disturbing!
Maybe Rupert has had training in blocking psychic attacks.  I’m very good, but I can’t pick up any pictures from his mind.  Maybe he has a secret past?  Frankly, I’m sure he does.  That’s what really bothers me – besides the fact that a man in my life is the very last thing I need.
I never ask for advice, but I’d love to know what you think.  What should I do?  Should I tell him to take a hike?  Ignore him?  Crush his beating heart?  I just can’t decide yet.  I need a psychic.

Most of all, I blame my author, Connie di Marco, for presenting me with this problem, how dare she put these stones in my path.  It really messes up my chi!  If you'd like to know more about the Zodiac Mysteries, you can visit my author's website, meet her on Facebook or Twitter @askzodia.

  1. I like this series! I hope there are more books to come.

  2. Hi Connie. A little behind in my commenting these days. Looking forward to learning how Zora solves this problem with Rupert!

Hope you are surviving social distancing. Not too much different here since we're retired except that now we've been told to stay inside ;-) and looks like no conventions or book signings for awhile. Take care. sally
